First, I’d like to thank the podcast subscribers for hanging in there despite the fact that a show has not been posted in some time. Shows continue to occur on a weekly basis, however, we have encountered a number of difficulties with the TC5 software, used to bring you the show. Specifically, people seem to be randomly kicked out of the conference room. As of yet, I’ve not been able to establish any sort of pattern i.e. no commonalities in Internet providers, system configurations, access technology, etc…. talking Communities, makers of TC5 have replied indicating that the issues are most likely based on the somewhat unstable nature of the Internet, a claim that I frankly refute. Certainly, Internet connections can become unstable at times, however, not everyone’s connection is unstable during a two hour program and we have had shows where at one point, or another each person is kicked out of the room. So, what does this have to do with the archives? Well, I’m not immune to being kicked out of the room and when it happens to me, the recordings get interrupted until I can log back in. I’ve been trying to splice them together, however, this proves somewhat time consuming, especially on shows that consist of five or more pieces.

I’d ask that people kindly remain hanging in there as my hope is to have these issues resolved soon. In the mean time, I’m having other folks record the show in the hopes that between us, we can get an uninterrupted file. I’ve also got the various pieces and parts and as I get them edited together, will be posting them to the archives along with descriptions of the topics which were covered.

I’d hate to search for a new client so soon after having chosen TC5, but I’m a bit concerned with the lack of response I’ve thus far received from tech support. I’ve heard from other users and owners of TC5 conferencing solutions that they experience similar problems, something which on the one hand makes me a little happier as the problem doesn’t seem specific to the Assistive Technology Show. I’d be curious as to your experiences, however, concerning your use of TC5, or possibly an alternative client?

Thanks again for hanging in there and for being so patient as I get these issues resolved.

Steve
